The Traffic Engineering Accident Analysis System (TEAAS) is a crash analysis software system containing information on all reportable traffic crashes occurring in North Carolina since 1990. It also includes all ordinance information for all state-maintained roads and highways. More information about TEAAS software, including downloads, can be found at https://connect.ncdot.gov/resources/safety/Pages/TEAAS-Crash-Data-System.aspx.
Training for users of the TEAAS includes an overview of crash data, routes and features, road codes, mileposting, traffic volumes, severity, intersection and strip studies, crash analysis techniques, and ordinances. The training consists of two parts:
- Approximately 8 hours of self-paced online instruction completed by each student independently
- A one-day, in-person training featuring guided practice using the TEAAS software
The self-paced work must be completed within 30 days of attending the one-day, in-person training session. Training is available at no cost to employees of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and other public sector employees. Private consultants may register for the training at a cost of $500 per person.
The following TEAAS sessions are currently available for registration:
- November 1, 2017 - Garner, NC
